GET YOUR OWN VIRTUAL VISIT
I offer affordable, customized, online presentations that meet SC literacy standards and social distancing guidelines.
This link goes to a video that shows some of the topics your visit may include.
The following options will be available this fall.
A live feed for individual grade levels through Google Meet or a similar link.
Each classroom in a grade level would receive a personalized, 15-20 minute visit.
I will work with a contact such as a lead teacher or literacy coach to cover whatever topics they choose for a given grade level or classroom goals.
Multiple package discounts are available for schools who choose to book more than one grade level of virtual meetings.
For sessions booked before October 1, 2020, (scheduled beginning September 1), individual classroom visits are only $45 per class. In addition to school checks, I accept Venmo and Paypal.
A pre-recorded 15-20 minute program designed to fit your individual school needs.
Educators would collect questions from kids prior to the recording and I would address as many as possible.
I’ll cover any specific topic you choose; a particular book, editing, where to get ideas, or my journey as a writer, for instance.
I’ll provide some read-aloud time as well.
This would be stored on a Google Drive or similar link and available for your distribution within your school community for a limited time.
Teachers could use the recording with students as needed providing for a broad reach across your school community.
***Both programs are provided at reduced rates. As with any regular school visit, both programs will make book sales available, but not required. Either program could be considered a virtual field trip and will be available to individual teachers as well.
It’s a new chapter book, ART SMART SCIENCE DETECTIVE: THE CASE OF THE SLIDING SPACESHIP. Art will be available in December of 2018. I’m very excited about this one because it is my first chapter book and it works well with STEM/STEAM classrooms in 1st-5th grade.
Art Smart school visits available now.
Art Smart, Science Detective
The Case of the Sliding Spaceship
Illustrated by Monica Wyrick
When Art and his friends—Robbie, Jason, and Amy—are having a sleepover, they decide to use Art’s telescope for some stargazing. They are shocked to see a purple spaceship hurtling toward Earth. While his parents think his imagination is getting the best of him, Art thinks Earth is at risk of an alien invasion. What should he do? Should Art and his fellow science detectives alert the authorities, or should they take matters into their own hands?
When the local police don’t seem concerned about Art’s report, the group decides to apply their knowledge of science and critical thinking skills to prepare for the impending attack. They need a plan—and fast!
What transpires as they gear up for the spaceship’s arrival will amuse and educate. Art Smart, Science Detective will appeal to budding scientists and even reluctant young readers as it answers burning questions such as “How close is science fiction to real life?” and “Can peanut butter really keep your brain safe from an alien assault?” This entertaining journey through the science of the sky is easily incorporated into middle-grade science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics courses.
